Unidentified Makers
These life size figures were created using woodcut, intaglio and mono prints combined with shibori dyed indigo papers, handmade papers and blind embossed prints. This body of work was inspired by my research of quilts in the collection of the international Quilt Museum in Lincoln, Nebraska. A significant portion of the quilts in the collection bear the label “unknown maker, “signaling the silent legacy of countless women who stitched their stories into fabric without recognition.
With these figures, I explore the boundaries of anonymity, imagining the narratives of women today as they resonate through time and space. Through a layered tapestry of images, I create unseen storytellers, weaving together threads of history, connection, and juxtaposition. Quilts, in their multifaceted symbolism, serve as the focal point of my exploration and an embodiment of both individual and collective memory. These pieces were part of a printed installation artwork installed at Tugboat Gallery in my joint exhibition "Loose Ends" in Fall 2025 with photographer Matel Rokke.
